Part 1
Danny: Celebrate Payton’s favorite holiday in this classic HSS quest!
Did you catch this classic HSS quest? Now’s your chance to relive the fun, or experience it for the first time!
Payton: OMG! OMG! Why are you all just standing around? Haven’t you guys been compulsively checking your calendar ever since New Year’s Eve? It’s finally here… VALENTINE’S DAY!
Julian: That’s cool.
Payton: …just ‘cool’?
Julian: I get that it’s a big deal to some people, but I’ve never been dating anyone on Valentine’s Day, so I don’t really know…
Payton: Too busy making out with cheerleaders?
Julian: Hey, you said it, not me.
Autumn: Well, personally, I think Valentine’s Day is a consumerist holiday made up by greeting card companies and greedy chocolatiers… But then again, I REALLY like chocolate! What do you think about Valentine’s Day, Danny?
Danny: What do I think? I hate Valentine’s Day! I mean, there’s all this pressure, and then you feel bad if you don’t have a date… Valentine’s Day is the woooorst.
Payton: You think that Valentine’s Day is the WORST?! You have no idea how wrong you are… I mean, Valentine’s Day is CRAZY important! If you don’t make sure everything goes absolutely perfectly on Valentine’s Day, you could doom yourself to being loveless and alone!
Danny: …uh, what?
Rewards
Autumn: Payton, don’t you think that’s a little extreme?
Julian: Yeah, one day can’t ruin your whole love life… can it?
Payton: Oh, it can… TRUST ME! But don’t worry. I’m not going to let that happen to anyone at this school. Because I’m going to throw the perfect Valentine’s Day dance!
Part 2
Payton: I HEART decorating for the Valentine’s Day dance!
You and Alexandra follow Payton into the gym. She points at walls, windows, and doors.
Payton: You’ll need streamers, posters, heart-shaped balloons… ooh! and glitter! Lots and lots of glitter!
Alexandra: Of course. Glitter IS the pixie dust of love!
Danny: …it is?
Payton: Definitely! And while you guys decorate in here, I’ll go sell tickets for the dance!
Payton holds up red foil tickets that are each shaped like half a heart.
Payton: See? Put them together, and you get one heart! Aren’t these the most adorable tickets you’ve ever seen?
Alexandra: Those are really cute!
Danny: …but what happens if someone wants to come without a date?
Payton: The apocalypse? But seriously, I doubt it will even come up! No one’s that crazy!
Payton waves goodbye and exits the gym. You and Alexandra turn to the decorating task at hand.
Danny: Okay, time to get started!
Time - 1 hour
You and Alexandra hang streamers, make posters, and put heart-shaped balloons all around the gym.
Danny: Hmm… do you think we went too heavy on the glitter? I’m beginning to feel like I’m trapped inside a disco ball.
Alexandra: No way! This looks great! Besides, Payton said to use a ton of glitter!
Rewards
There is a yell from outside the gym!
Danny: Speaking of Payton, was that HER voice I just heard?
You and Alexandra rush outside onto the lawn. Payton is arguing with several classmates who are trying to buy solo tickets for the dance.
Danny: Payton, is something the matter?
Payton: Definitely! There are tons of people buying solo tickets! They want to come ALONE! Like hermits! Even worse, the couples that are coming don’t have anything exciting planned. Don’t they understand what’s at stake?
Julian: I wasn’t trying to bum out Payton. I just thought my date and I would grab take-out.
Payton: And TAKE IT to where? The garbage dump?! Do you see what I mean, Danny? It’s all falling apart. This school needs more passion! More romance! More amour!
Autumn: …more more?
Payton: You KNOW what I said…
Julian: Guys, maybe we SHOULD listen to Payton. She’s like the Tom Brady of making plays... err, making-out plays. If Payton says something about romance, it’s true… no matter how crazy it sounds!
Danny: Well, I guess we COULD encourage more dating…
Part 3
Payton: This place is totes heartless! We need romance… STAT!
Danny: So was that enough dating? Do you think our classmates are getting in the mood for Valentine’s Day?
Payton: It’s a very good start!
Rewards
Payton: Unfortunately, not everyone’s feeling romantic yet. A bunch of the gamers didn’t even make any Valentine’s Day cards. They just invited people to check out their heart- shaped level mod in Skyrim.
Danny: Actually, that sounds kinda cool…
Payton: Oh really? And was it cool when a student gov asked her date to the dance with a Game of Thrones-themed invite?
Danny: People do think Robb Stark is pretty cute…
Payton: Yeah, except she asked him to be her HOT PIE! How’s THAT romantic?!
Danny: Okay, we’ll organize a few more dates.
Part 4
Payton: That was a good start… but good isn’t nearly good enough where love is concerned.
Payton: That’s it! We did it, Danny! Love is officially in the air! And even better… nobody is buying single tickets for the Valentine’s Day dance any more!
Danny: That’s great news, Payton!
A lone classmate walks by the ticket booth. When she notices you looking, she pivots and hastily speeds away.
Danny: I just hope that single tickets sales haven’t slowed because of, um…
Payton: Because of what?
Danny: I mean… you’ve been a little forceful about this whole couples thing. I hope that single people aren’t getting scared off.
Payton: Don’t be silly. There’s nothing scary about Valentine’s Day! As long as you do everything perfectly, you don’t have to worry about being miserable, heartbroken, and lonely!
Danny: Right… nothing scary…
Rewards
Payton: Now that the romance is handled, we should concentrate on getting the snacks together. I’ll buy the soda and the chips… Can you and Autumn bake heart-shaped red velvet cupcakes?
Part 5
Payton: Heart-shaped red velvet cupcakes for Valentine’s Day? Don’t you LOVE that idea?
You and Autumn pull out the ingredients listed in the recipe and spread them across the counter.
Autumn: Red velvet is basically just chocolate cake with lots of buttermilk and red food coloring added. But I read online we can use beets instead of red food coloring!
You slyly slide a bundle of beets off the counter and into a nearby trash can.
Danny: …ehhh, sorry, we’re all out.
Together, you mix all the remaining ingredients and bake the cupcakes. Forty minutes later, you pull the cupcakes out of the oven, and they’re a deep, rich crimson.
Autumn: Now for the best part… decorating! What kind of frosting do you think we should ice them with?
Danny: What about white chocolate raspberry.
Autumn: Ooh… that’s thinking outside the box!
Together, you mix white chocolate, sugar, butter, and raspberry puree into a delicious pink frosting. Then you top the cupcakes.
Autumn: That looks diving! Now we just need to choose toppings!
Danny: What about sugar paste roses.
You dot the cupcakes with beautiful pink candy bouquets!
Autumn: Mmm! These roses are beautiful… and edible!
As you finish up, Payton returns to inspect your cupcakes!
Payton: Mmmm… the white chocolate raspberry frosting is deliciously fruity! And I love that you made edible flowers as toppings! They’re so beautiful, I almost don’t even want to eat them… ALMOST!
Payton snacks on a cupcake and then sighs dreamily.
Payton: Mmmm… MMMM… Mmmm…
Back in the gym, Payton places your cupcakes on the snack table alongside the soda and chips!
Payton: The snacks are out. The party is perfectly decorated. We’re almost done!
Rewards
Payton: We only have one thing left to decorate… US!
Danny: …us?
Payton: I mean, we need to get dressed up! You’re not coming to the Valentine’s Day dance wearing those rags, are you?
Danny: …not anymore!
Part 6
Payton: Eek! You can’t go to the Valentine’s Day dance dressed in your everyday rags!
You chance your outfit and stop in to chat with Payton. Autumn and Julian are hanging out there too.
Danny: …so? Is this better?
Payton: Squee! Look at you, Danny! So dashing! So handsome! I’ll stop gushing before I make Julian jealous.
Julian: Eh, I think my ego can handle it. …unless you’re trying to tell me something? Payton, did I pick out the wrong tie?
Payton: What? No, it’s pretty good!
Julian: Just pretty good… not perfect?
Autumn: Julian, I think you and Danny BOTH look gorgeous!
Time - 2 hours
Autumn: So are we ready to head out?
Payton: I think so!
Rewards
Payton: We’ll each go on our own perfect dates, and then afterwards, we’ll meet up at the Valentine’s Day dance! See you really soon!
Part 7
Payton: Ahh… A Valentine’s Day date followed by a Valentine’s Day dance? This may be the perfect day.
After your dates, you, Autumn, and Payton regroup outside the dance. Classmates assemble in line outside the gym, loaded down with chocolates and bouquets of red roses!
Autumn: Aww… look at everyone! They have flowers! And chocolates! And such perfectly tailored outfits!
Danny: No kidding… it’s like a New York runway show out here!
A few classmates stumble by, burdened under the weight of everything they’re carrying.
Autumn: Although some of them seem a bit… encumbered…
Payton: Nobody said perfect dates were easy!
Rewards
Payton: I almost hate to spoil the special mood by making an announcement.
Danny: …I sense a ‘but’ coming.
Payton: But somebody has to get this PARTY STAAARTED!
Payton crosses in front of the gym doors. She addresses the gathered crowd.
Payton: Welcome to the Valentine’s Day dance, everyone! And congrats! You all went on perfect dates, and now you’re here at this perfect dance! And that’s perfect… Because just one misstep, one tiny mistake, and there’s a chance you could end up loveless and unhappy!
The crowd gasps!
Payton: Err, I mean… have a good time, everyone!
The crowd grumbles and slowly begins to file into the dance. Payton returns to you and Autumn.
Autumn: Payton, what was that? You just put a whole lot of pressure on everybody to have a perfect night! Don’t you think that could cause problems?
Payton: No! I… I just wanted everyone to have a perfect Valentine’s Day!
Danny: Speaking of ‘everyone’… where is Julian?
Part 8
Payton: Where did Julian go?
You and Payton scour the parking lot and finally find Julian sitting outside in his car.
Danny: Julian, we found you! What are you doing out here?
Julian: I’m so glad you guys are here. Payton, you’re my Dating Quarterback. I need you to call an audible. Which tie should I wear?
Payton: Uh… what?
Julian: I just want this night to go perfectly. It’s like you told us, any little thing could ruin EVERYTHING.
Time - 4 hours
Danny: Payton, could you please tell Julian that it doesn’t matter which tie he wears? He’ll be fine either way.
Payton: Julian, this isn’t what I wanted to happen. I…
Loud voices sound out from just outside the gym. People are arguing! Autumn dashes over.
Autumn: Everyone! Come quick! It’s a disaster!
Rewards
You, Autumn, Julian, and Payton return to the gym to find many couples arguing over small, insignificant details!
Autumn: That couple is upset over a red rose corsage instead of a pink one!
Julian: And that girl is mad that her date is wearing the wrong suspenders!
Danny: It looks like people are getting upset because their Valentine’s Day hasn’t been PERFECT.
Autumn: You put so much pressure on everyone, Payton, and now they’re fighting because the dance isn’t living up to their expectations!
Payton: This… this is a catastrophe!
Danny: If these couples only got together for the dance, Payton, then I think a few break-ups might be inevitable.
Part 9
Payton: Fight alert! Valentine’s Danger! A bunch of couples are breaking up!
Several nearby couples argue and then split up, each half storming to opposite sides of the parking lot.
Autumn: Uh oh… this is getting bad!
Julian: And now long-term couples are starting to fight too!
Danny: Payton, this is your party. You need to do something to stop this madness before it gets any worse!
Payton: I… I…
Payton doesn’t answer. Instead, she slumps down in the corner.
Rewards
Danny: Payton, I get the feeling that there’s something you’re not telling us.
Payton sighs deeply.
Payton: My very first boyfriend and I were supposed to celebrate Valentine’s Day together. He was so cute, and I liked him so much. I stressed over making it the perfect night. But… but I must not have tried hard enough. My boyfriend broke up with me before the date even started! I was alone for so long after that… Ever since, I’ve made sure that each new Valentine’s Day is more perfect than the last… But it didn’t work then, and it didn’t work tonight either.
Autumn: That’s so sad…
Danny: Payton, did you ever think your boyfriend might’ve gotten scared off by all the pressure to be perfect?
Payton: I… I never thought of it that way before…
The commotion outside the gym grows louder! A bouquet of red roses arc towards Payton and explodes against the wall by her head! A box of chocolate truffles spills, the shattered pieces bleedout out strawberry creme!
Payton: …that was a Godiva’s Valentine’s Day Truffle Flight! I need to do something!
Part 10
Payton: Valentine’s Day is totally ruined… and it’s all my fault.
Payton leaps onto a table and calls out to the agitated crowd!
Payton: Everyone, take a deep breath and calm down! What I said about needing to have a perfect date… that was wrong! It doesn’t matter WHAT you do on Valentine’s Day. It’s WHO you share it with!
Payton glances down at you, Autumn, and Julian.
Payton: Even if they’re just a friend. Even if they’re not perfect. Because no one is perfect… Especially not me.
The crowd murmurs. You jump up on the table next to Payton.
Danny: I think what Payton means to say is… Forget perfect… just try to relax and have a good time!
Time - 8 hours
The crowd calms, and you and Payton hop off the table. Soon, happy couples are walking into the gym holding hands.
Autumn: Guys, I think you did it! People are beginning to smile and not throw things!
Julian: Some people are even starting to get… romantic…
Julian nods to a couple that is making out like crazy!
Julian: Nice!
Danny: What about you, Julian? Did you finally decide on which tie to wear?
Julian: Yeah, I did actually…
Julian wads up both ties and chucks them into a nearby trash can.
Julian: I’m taking the choker collar off this party animal! Wooooooooo!
Julian dashes into the gym. You, Autumn and Payton whoop and follow after him into the dance!
Rewards
Inside the Valentine’s Day dance, couples slow dance with their cheeks resting on each other’s shoulders.
Payton: Awww… so romantic! I’m so glad everything worked out in the end! What about you, Danny? Who are you going to slow dance with?
Part 11
Payton: Time to dance! Who are you slow-dancing with?
You and Berry take the dance floor, spinning around in graceful circles.
Berry: Hiccups aside, this dance IS pretty romantic! And those red velvet cupcakes were absolutely DELICIOUS!
Berry leans in for a kiss.
Berry: But not nearly as sweet as you!
Danny: Awww…
Time - 16 hours
Later, the dance winds down. The gym is almost empty except for a few straggling couples, still embracing and swaying tenderly to love ballads.
Payton: Thank you again, Danny. And I’m sorry I went so crazy.
Danny: It’s okay. We all have our moments.
Rewards
Danny: Speaking of, you never told us the name of your first boyfriend.
Payton: Does it even matter? it’s not like we’re an item anymore… and I haven’t even seen him in ages.
Danny: Sorry for prying. Just curious…
You grab your date and head to the gym door. As you’re about to exit, you pause and turn back to Payton…
Danny: Oh, and Payton, one last thing… This Valentine’s Day might not have been perfect, but it was perfect anyway. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Payton: Awww… so romantic! I’m so glad everything worked out in the end! What about you, Danny? Who are you going to slow dance with?

Payton: Time to dance! Who are you slow-dancing with?
- A Classmate Except Danny (Berry)
