Ian: Do you know why prom is the most amazing thing about high school, Danny?
Danny: The lavish limos? The sharp tuxes and stunning dresses? The romantic last dance?
Ian: There’s no wrong answer! It’s special to everyone in a different way. But for me, what makes prom so special is the way everyone asks their date to the dance... With grand, unforgettable declarations of love! Candles in your crush’s backyard! Rearranging the school’s marquee! A message on the big screen at the big game! You know... romance!
Danny: Yeah! I’m always excited to see what big surprises my classmates cook up for their prom-posals. People go all out!
Ian: Exactly. Love is a big deal and, around prom, people finally start acting like it. Too bad it’s only once a year...
Danny: Hey! Maybe we don’t have prom every day, but who says big romantic gestures can’t be in style year-round?
Ian: What a marvelous, majestic, magnificent idea! Let’s take romance at this school from lazy to prom-azing!
Ian: This is a great idea, Danny. Whether you’re planning date night with your boyfriend of two years, or finally working up the nerve to ask out your homeroom crush... It always deserves all the surprise, grandeur, and excitement of a prom-posal!
Danny: You know, I do have a friend who hasn’t been able to figure out the right way to ask out their crush...
Ian: Hmm... I have some ideas, but the best romantic gestures are always personally tailored to the lovebirds involved.
Danny: Well, my friend likes to sing--
Ian: Perfect! Nothing pulls at the heartstrings like a soulful serenade!
Requirements
You, Ian, and Alexandra meet up with Austin outside the cafeteria...
Austin: I’m just gonna spit it out... I’ve had a huge crush on Contessa since forever!
Ian: Oh, we know.
Alexandra: The whole school knows.
Austin: You... you do?! Well, do you really think a serenade will work?
Ian: Are you kidding? Love songs have been the foundation of courtship since mankind’s first make-out sesh! Now go into that lunchroom, walk right up to Contessa, and just belt it out!
Austin: Gulp! I’m used to singing in front of everyone... but whenever I see Contessa, my heart leaps into my mouth, and I can’t even talk!
Alexandra: Don’t worry, Austin. I’m backing you up. This time, your heart will leap OUT of your mouth... in the form of a gorgeous love song!
Austin: You know what... you’re right! I can do this!
Austin marches into the cafeteria, with Alexandra close behind.
Austin: Hey, Contessa!
Contessa: Huh? Austin?
Just then, Alexandra strums a few chords on a guitar! Austin’s mouth opens... But nothing comes out!
Austin: ...
Ian: Uh oh! Austin’s panicking!
Time - 4 hours
Ian: Oh no! Austin froze up in the middle of serenading Contessa!
Alexandra: Hello? Austin? That’s your cue!
Austin: ...
Contessa: Austin? Are you okay?
The whole cafeteria watches Austin stand there awkwardly! Giggling ripples through the silent lunchroom...
Danny: Quick, Ian! Follow my lead!
You and Ian run into the cafeteria... and softly croon backup vocals! Hearing you, Austin snaps out of it and launches into a heartfelt rendition of ‘A Thousand Years’! The giggling goes quiet as Austin’s voice soars over Alexandra’s guitar! Contessa listens, riveted, and your classmates are left near tears by the passion in Austin’s voice!
Austin: Contessa, I’ve wanted to ask you something for a thousand years, but I can’t let another moment pass without asking you this... ...will you go out with me?
Contessa: Geez, Austin! Took you long enough! Of course I will!
Danny: It worked!
Ian: So romantic!
Danny: That went great! Not only did Austin win Contessa’s heart, but everyone got to see the big moment happen!
Ian: I’m glad you enjoyed it, Danny, because I have resplendent news! Word’s spread that we helped Austin ask out Contessa... And now a bunch of our classmates want us to do the same for them! This is our chance to kindle romance school-wide!
Requirements
Nick: I really want to get Jai to notice me. Can you guys help me do something romantic?
Ian: Hmm, let’s see... Nick, you’re enigmatic, yet sensitive... while Jai is sweet and elegant. Hmm...
Danny: I have an idea! You can sneak chocolate roses into Jai’s locker!
Ian: A mysterious, decadent surprise! It’s perfect!
Nick: Oooh! I like it! Wait a second, I don’t know which locker is Jai’s!
Danny: I’m on it!
Ian: Find out Jai’s locker number... but don’t raise any suspicious! It’ll give away the surprise!
Time - 7 hours
Danny: (Okay, I just need to find out Jai’s locker number... without raising suspicion!)
You stroll up to Jai in the halls.
Jai: Hey, Danny, what’s new?
Danny: I wanted to ask you something... Can I borrow your history textbook?
Jai: Sure thing!
Jai leads you to Locker 317 and hands you a textbook! You run back to Ian and Nick with the locker number...
Ian: Excellent espionage work, Danny! Just like James Bond! Daring and seductive!
Later that day, you, Ian, and Nick watch from around the corner as Jai returns from class...
Nick: Here comes Jai!
Jai opens the locker and sees Nick’s bouquet of chocolate roses!
Jai: What’s this? ...for ME?!
Ian: See that, Nick? I think it’s working!
Later that day, you see Nick and Jai walking hand-in-hand!
Jai: Who knew you could be so romantic?
Nick: I’m just full of surprises!
Nick flashes a thumbs-up at you as they head off.
Danny: The romance around here is really picking up, Ian!
Ian: Sure is! But we’ve got no time to celebrate! Our next lovebird wants us to go even bigger and more adventurous!
Requirements
Sophia whispers to you and Ian...
Sophia: I really want to show Kimia how I feel, but I don’t know how! I want it to be unforgettable! Can you two help me?
Ian: The best romantic gesture will be deeply personal. So first off, can you tell us what Kimia likes most?
Sophia: Easy. Kimia loves adventures... puzzles... and, um... oh yeah! Space!
Danny: Adventures, puzzles, and space, huh? There has to be a way to put SOMETHING together...
Ian: ‘Put’... ‘together’? Danny, you’re a romantic genius!
Danny: Thanks! Wait, what?
Time - 9 hours
Later in class...
Danny: Hey, Kimia! What’s that floating above your desk?
Kimia: Whoa! A red balloon! And it looks like there’s something inside!
Kimia pops the balloon and removes something flat and square...
Kimia: It’s... a jigsaw piece! With strange markings on it? Perhaps a coded message from an ancient alien civilization?
Danny: Well, probably not that, but more importantly... where are the other pieces?
Kimia: It appears I’ll have to go on an epic quest to find them! It’s a puzzle AND an adventure!
You tail Kimia around campus, finding more balloons! Inside each one is another piece of the puzzle!
Kimia: Hmm, the edges of the puzzle are complete, but we’re missing this middle section! Where’s the final piece?
Danny: Look! Over there!
Up ahead, framed by the sunset, stands Sophia, holding one last balloon! You drop back and watch as Sophia offers Kimia the balloon. Kimia excitedly pops it, collects the piece, and completes the puzzle...
Kimia: The markings! They spell something... ‘Want... to watch... the meteor shower... with me?’
Sophia: So? What do you say?
Kimia: I’d love to!
Ian: Looks like Kimia is over the MOON for Sophia... get it? Space?
That night, all your classmates spread out blankets on the football field and gaze up... Sophia and Kimia watch with wide-eyed wonder as meteors paint streaks of burning orange across the deep blue of the midnight sky...
Kimia: Wow... the meteors look amazing!
Sophia: Kinda like you.
You and Ian spot Sophia and Kimia holding hands!
Ian: Is there anything more magical than blossoming affection?
Danny: Not bad for a day’s work. You had so many great ideas for romantic surprises, Ian. I’m curious, how did YOU ask your date to prom?
Ian: Well, I... um... the truth is... Okay, I admit it! I didn’t do anything special...
Danny: Wait, you didn’t?!
Requirements
Danny: Ian... you really didn’t do anything special for your prom-posal? Why not? Those mean the world to you!
Ian: Well, that was kinda the problem. Maybe it meant TOO much. I had some ideas, sure... but they weren’t good enough... or big enough... or prom-mazingly unforgettable enough.
Ian looks up at the shooting stars streaking through the sky...
Ian: I’ve always wanted to have that big moment, you know... like they have in the movies... but I was never able to come up with one that really captures how I feel.
Danny: I’m sorry, Ian...
Ian: It’s okay, Danny. I’m just happy I got to help so many of my friends experience that kind of romance.
Danny: Hey now! This whole day has been about showing that grand declarations of love NEVER go out of style! So it’s like you said. It’s always the right time to take your romance from lazy to prom-azing!
Ian: You know what, Danny? You’re right! I AM going to have that big moment! And it’s going to be the most romantic surprise of all time! Er... now we just have to come up with it.
Danny: That calls for a brainstorm!
Time - 6 hours
Later, you read back your notes of ideas for romantic surprises...
Danny: So what about standing up in English class and reciting a Shakespearian sonnet?
Ian: No...
Danny: Or you could dress as the lunch lady and serve up heart-shaped chicken nuggets?
Ian: No... and EW! Those are all memorable... but none of them FEEL right!
Danny: Well, no matter what you decide to do, it’s the thought that counts most. You’ll get your big moment, just like in the movies.
Ian: Gah, that’s it! The movies! Danny, you’re a romantic genius! Again!
Later, you find Ian typing furiously at a computer.
Ian: And... done! It’s ready.
Danny: What is?
Ian: The script! We’re going to make a movie!
Danny: Whoa! You weren’t kidding when you said you wanted a spectacle!
Ian: I meant it! But for this, we’ll need a film crew...
Requirements
You meet up with Ian, Henry, and Carlos in the school’s drama department...
Ian: Thanks for coming, everyone! Together, we shall create the most sweeping... most moving... most passionate tale of love ever committed to film!
Henry: Unrealistically ambitious... I like it! Give us the rundown.
Ian: The setting... a medieval kingdom full of splendor! I’ll star as a lowly blacksmith’s apprentice... who falls in love with the heir to the throne!
Henry: I can see it now... there’s no way the king and queen will allow their child to marry a peasant!
Ian: You bet! That’s why Carlos will play the cruel monarch bent on keeping us apart!
Carlos: Ooh! A juicy part! The kind the audience loves to hate!
Ian: And Danny will be my best friend! The comic relief!
Danny: I think I can handle that.
Ian: Places, everyone! Aaaand... action!
Time - 8 hours
Ian: Okay, Danny, in this scene, my character is about to sneak into the Royal Ball to meet with my beloved... but first, you need to teach me how to dance!
Danny: How should I play it?
Ian: Up to you. I trust your instincts.
Henry frames the shot...
Henry: Lights, camera, action!
Danny: Ian, you don’t know how to dance?
Ian: I’m just a lowly blacksmith’s apprentice. I’ve never been to a fancy ball before...
Danny: You’re going to stick out like a sore thumb... unless I teach you. Here, you’ll lead. Take my hand.
You pull Ian close to you an walk him through the basic steps... but he keeps stepping on your toes!
Ian: Aah! Sorry!
Danny: Sorry? That’s how the dance goes! That’s why this step is called the ‘Toe Pulverizer’!
Ian: Wait, really?
Danny: No. Not really. Take it from the top!
Henry: Cut! Great improv, Danny!
Carlos: Excellent acting instincts! You’re a born talent!
Ian: Great work, people! That’s a wrap!
The next day, Henry hands Ian a flash drive with the finished movie.
Henry: Not gonna lie, I may have teared up editing the final cut together. I’d totally melt if someone made this for me.
Ian: Thanks, Henry. Thanks to all of you. I couldn’t have done this without your help.
Danny: So, Ian, what’s the next step in your plan?
Ian: Now, I have a date...
Requirements
Ian and Kat arrive at the local movie theater and take their seats in a packed house... Meanwhile, you sneak up to the projector booth, handing the projectionist a USB flash drive... and a box of freshly baked cookies!
Danny: These cookies should serve as suitable payment!
The projectionist takes one gooey bite of a freshly baked cookie and gives you a thumbs-up. He plugs in the flash drive... Back in the theater, the lights go down.
Kat: Ooh, it’s starting!
A bright message introduces a movie trailer... and then a familiar face appears on screen!
Kat: Oh my gosh! Ian... it’s YOU!
Time - 10 hours
You sneak back into the theater to watch as Ian’s pretend movie trailer plays out! On screen, you and Ian, both covered in soot, watch as an opulent regal procession streams down the streets of a medieval metropolis...
Ian: Tell me, Danny, who is that angel? My heart skips at the sight!
Danny: That’s Kat, the heir to the throne of the realm! A lowly apprentice such as yourself has better odds of winning the heart of a firebreathing dragon!
A soaring orchestral score swells over montages of Ian exchanging love letters through a barred window of the palace keep... Soon, the scene jumps to a heartbroken Ian seeing a posted parchment flyer on the palace walls...
Ian: The royal wedding... it’s tonight. You were right, Danny. Why did I ever think someone as perfect as Kat could fall for a nobody like me?
Danny: Well, don’t listen to me NOW! We’re going to stop that wedding and reunite you with the love of your life!
Ian: If I try, I’ll be arrested! I could lose everything... But Kat is worth it!
The movie title fills the screen... ‘Kat & Ian’. The lights come up in the theater as tears stream down every face! Ian turns to a shocked Kat...
Ian: Kat, every day with you makes me feel like the luckiest person in the world.
Kat: But Ian, you didn’t have to do all this! I already know you appreciate me.
Ian: I know I didn’t have to. I wanted to. Our love is worth celebrating.
Kat: Oh, Ian...
They kiss! The entire audience rises in a standing ovation!
Ian: I never got to ask you to prom in a special way... and I know this can’t make up for that, but... Kat? Would you like to go to a party with me?
Kat: I would be delighted.
Requirements
Your whole school shows up to Ian’s party!
Ian: Look at all the couples dancing together! We kicked off a lot of new relationships, didn’t we?
Danny: And between ‘Spin the Bottle’ and ‘Truth or Dare’, even more couples are getting together as we speak!
Ian: Danny, I just wanted to thank you again for helping me live that magical moment.
Danny: Well, now that you’ve had it, how do you feel?
Ian: That moment meant the world to me... but only because my sweetheart does. When I think about it, I realize that EVERY moment we spend together is just as big and important in its own way.
Danny: You’re right. Big romantic moments don’t create true love. True love creates those unforgettable moments.
Ian: That’s a great way to put it, Danny! It’s like you’re some kind of...
Danny: Romantic genius?
Ian: Took the words right out of my mouth!
