Part 1
Autumn: Let’s shoot some hoops, Danny!
You, Autumn, Julian, and Justin are just starting the new basketball season!
Justin: All right, everyone. This is our first game of the season, and my first game as team captain. Let’s get out there and show them what we’re made of!
Danny: Woohoo!
Autumn: Let’s go!
Julian: Game face is... on!
As the game begins, you tip the ball to Julian, but Justin jumps in front of him and catches the ball!
Justin: Nice tip, Danny!
Julian: Hey!
Justin dribbles down the court for an easy layup.
Julian: Justin, Danny was tipping the ball to me--
Justin: No time for talking, Justin. Get back on defense!
Julian: ...
The game continues as your team pulls ahead! During the second half, Justing dribbles the ball up as you set a screen for Autumn.
Autumn: Justin! I’m open!
Justin fakes a pass to Autumn before pulling up for a long jump shot.
Justin: Swish! That’s what I’m talkin’ about!
Autumn: But... I had an open layup.
Justin: Come on, you guys. I can’t play defense by myself!
Julian: But apparently you can score by yourself.
Danny: Come on, Julian. We’ve gotta get back.
Finally, it’s time for the last play of the game. Your team is up by fifteen points, and Justin is dribbling out the clock.
Autumn: Five... four...
Julian: Three... two...
At the last second, Justin pulls up for a three-point shot! The ball arcs through the air and swishes through the net!
Danny: One.
Justin: Woohoo!
Autumn: We didn’t need those points, Justin. It’s bad sportsmanship...
Justin: We always want to win by as much as possible. Don’t be a party-pooper, Autumn. Let’s celebrate!
Rewards
After the game, everyone heads over to The Pizza Shack.
Justin: Nothing says good game like a slice of pepperoni pizza!
Autumn: You played really well, Justin. Twenty-eight points is amazing!
Justin: I guess. I still missed a lot of easy baskets, though.
Julian pulls you aside as your teammates continue discussing the game.
Julian: Danny, can I talk to you about something?
Part 2
Julian: I have something I want to discuss with you, Danny.
You and Julian find a secluded spot a few tables away.
Danny: What’s up, Julian?
Julian: Well, I wanted to talk to you away from the rest of the team...
Danny: About what?
Julian: Justin!
Time - 8 hours
Julian: Ever since Justin was picked to be varsity captain, the team dynamic has changed. Justin has become such a ballhog! Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed that you never get the ball anymore.
Danny: I guess that’s true...
Julian: Justin’s stats are skyrocketing and everyone else’s stats are suffering. I’m sick of it!
Danny: It was the first game of the season. I’m sure things’ll settle down once we play more games.
Julian: But practice are terrible now, and not in the normal, working-really-hard kind of way. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to wait around until the games are terrible, too. We’re supposed to be a team. And Justin is supposed to be our leader. But now it’s all about winning, not playing together. It’s just... not fun to play anymore. This isn’t the kind of team I wanna be a part of...
Rewards
Danny: Are you going to quit the team?
Julian: No! Well, not right now. But... could you talk to Justin?
Danny: We have practice tomorrow. I’ll try to catch Justin then.
Part 3
Justin: Practice makes perfect!
The next day, you get to practice a few minutes early.
Danny: Hey, Justin! Can we talk for a second?
Justin: Sure thing, Danny! But can it wait until after practice? I have this awesome new play I want to run! I’ll be breaking school records in no time!
Danny: Actually, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. Before we start...
Justin: Less talk, more action! Time for drills! Everyone line up at half court for layups!
Danny: ...
Time - 6 hours
Practice continues as Justin pushes everyone harder than ever!
Justin: Run faster, Julian! You call that a rebound, Autumn? You have to jump toward the ball! And Danny! I could play better defense in my sleep!
Julian: Of course you could.
Justin: Excuse me? That’s it! Everyone on the baseline. We’re running suicides!
After you run up and down the court many, many times, Justin finally stops you.
Justin: All right, that’s enough. Now let’s get the starting five out here. I have a new play I want to run through, called The Justin-oop!
Danny: Can we... get... some water... please?
Justin: If you want to give up your starting spot, go right ahead.
You and the other starters reluctantly take your spots on the court.
Justin: Okay, so for this new trick play, the post players will screen down for the guards at the block, who will pop out to the wing.
You and Autumn jog out to the wing position. Justin passes you the ball.
Justin: I’ll pass the ball to one side, and then the opposite guard and post will come up and set backdoor screens for me. I’ll run around...
Julian sets a screen for Justin...
Justin: And then Danny will throw me an alley-oop pass!
You toss the ball in the air in a perfect ally-oop pass. Justin jump in the air, catches the ball, and makes the basket! But as Justin lands...
Justin: Owwww! My ankle!
Danny: Justin! Are you okay?
Justin: Yeah... I’ll be fine.
Julian helps Justin stand, but as soon as Julian steps away, Justin starts to lose balance.
Justin: I can’t walk on it! The season is ruined! This team can’t win without me!
Julian: Hey! That’s it--
Danny: Uh, let’s get Justin to the nurse!
Rewards
You help Justin limp toward the nurse’s office.
Justin: Ow... ow... ow...
Danny: We’re almost there, Justin.
Justin: Ow... ow...
Part 4
Justin: I won’t let a little injury get in my way--ow ow ow!
You sit outside the nurse’s office as she looks at Justin’s ankle.
Danny: I hope Justin will be okay...
After a while, Justin limps out of the office.
Danny: Justin! What did the nurse say?
Justin: Well...
Time - 9 hours
Justin: The nurse said I’ll have to sit out for a bit. My ankle was twisted pretty bad, but should heal quickly as long as I keep weight off it.
Danny: That’s good, right?
Justin: I guess... but we have our next game coming up, and I just...
Danny: What? You don’t think we can win without you?
Justin: Well, it sounds bad when you say it like that. It’s just... well, it’s a lot of pressure, being captain. You can’e even begin to imagine what it’s like to have everyone depending on you.
Danny: Well, actually--
Justin: And it’s like, if I mess up and miss a shot or make a turnover, then everyone doubts my abilities as a captain. And if we lose a game, then what’s the point?
Danny: The point isn’t to win every game. And no one’s expecting you to be perfect. You know, you weren’t chosen as captain just because of your basketball skills. I mean, those are definitely impressive, but it’s not your job to carry the team. You were chosen because of what you bring to the table off the court, as well as on the court! It’s about leadership and teamwork!
Justin: ...
Justin nods thoughtfully, considering your words...
Justin: Oh! I see what you’re doing!
Danny: Huh?
Justin: You’re trying to distract me with all this mushy talk about teamwork! To get my mind off the fact that it’s all about winning!
Danny: Wait, that’s not--
Justin puts a hand on your shoulder.
Justin: Look, I appreciate the attempt, Danny. it’s really cool of you to try to help, but I know how these things work. And don’t feel bad. Giving pep talks isn’t for everyone.
Danny: But... but...
Rewards
Justin: Ugh, I don’t know how I’m gonna last the next couple of weeks without playing...
Danny: I guess you’ll just have to rely on the team!
Justin: Yeah...
Danny: Come on, Justin. Let’s get some ice for your ankle.
Part 5
Justin: Danny! Autumn! Julian! It’s time to warm-up!
A few days later, it’s time for the next game! Justin is supposed to be supervising the pre-game warmups...
Justin: ...
But instead, Justin is sitting on the sidelines, ice propped on the ankle.
Emily: My free throws feel off today... Justin, do you have any pointers?
Justin: Hmmm? Oh, uh, just... you know, shoot the ball.
Emily: Okay...
Just then, Alex tries to jump for a rebound, but the ball goes flying by!
Danny: It looks like you mistimed your jump, Alex. What do you think, Justin?
Justin: Um, I didn’t see. Whatever you say, Danny.
Danny: What’s going on?
Autumn: Justin is never this disengaged during pregame warm-ups...
The buzzer sounds to indicate the game is about to begin. The team gathers around Justin and puts their arms into the center of the huddle.
Justin: Go team on three. One... two... three...
Danny: Go team...
Time - 10 hours
The game begins, and you tip the ball toward Autumn...
Autumn: Oh!
...but the ball hits her head and bounces to the other team! They score a basket right away.
Justin: ...
Alex starts to dribble the ball up the court... but the other point guard tips the ball away and manages to score again!
Justin: That’s not good...
Alex dribbles around the defender this time and passes the ball to you!
Alex: Danny!
You catch the ball, but you’re immediately double-teamed!
Danny: Oh!
A defender hits the ball out of your hands and the other team fast breaks down the court!
Danny: Oops.
Julian: Danny! What’re you doing?
Danny: This game is a disaster!
Rewards
Finally, the buzzer sounds for halftime.
Autumn: That... was not... going well...
Julian: You can say that again! We’re playing terribly!
Danny: Justin! We need your help!
Justin: ...
Danny: Snap out of it, Justin! You were made team captain because you’re a great leader... so lead!
Justin: What? You’re... you’re right! Okay everyone listen up!
Part 6
Justin: We can’t keep playing like this if we want to win!
Justin gathers everyone on the sideline during halftime.
Justin: Okay, so that wasn’t our best half of basketball ever... But look at the score! We’re only down by twelve points. That’s nothing! That’s a four-possession game, and we still have a whole half left.
Julian: But how’re we supposed to play better when our captain isn’t even paying attention?
Justin: You’re right. I was so caught up in my own injury that I completely let you guys down. And I know that even before I hurt my ankle, I wasn’t the best captain.
Autumn: Well, sometimes your shouting from the sidelines made it hard to focus on the game...
Julian: It was definitely distracting.
Justin: You’re right. I got completely carried away, but I was honestly just trying to help! I’ve got my head in the game now, and I promise this half will be different! Julian, I know you can be one of our best rebounders if you push yourself a little more. You may not have the height of some other post players, but you’re strong enough to box out anyone!
Julian: I guess that’s true. I am pretty strong.
Justin: Autumn, you’re a fantastic shooter, but sometimes you let the other team psych you out. If you get your confidence up, you can become a real outside threat.
Autumn: You really think so?
Justin: Of course! And Danny, sometimes you seem a little distracted, like you’re more focused on everyone else than yourself. With a little more concentration, I think you can become our leader in assists!
Danny: Hmmm... I never really thought of myself as a great passer, but I could work on it!
Justin: Guys, we’re not down by much. If we can cut the lead to four or five points within the first few minutes, we’ll be in a great position to win the game! I know you guys can do it if you just play to your strengths!
Danny: Let’s do this!
Rewards
As your team shoots around during the last few minutes of halftime, Justin pulls you aside.
Justin: Danny, I want to try The Justin-oop again, but obviously I won’t be able to do it... Do you think you can alley-oop the ball to Julian?
Danny: Yeah! The other team won’t see it coming!
Justin: Perfect. Wait for my signal...
Part 7
Julian: Let’s go team!
The second half begins, and Alex immediately steals the ball! Alex passes to Emily, who quickly pivots and throws the ball to Julian!
Julian: Autumn! Catch!
Julian passes the ball to Autumn, who pulls up for a three-pointer! Swish!
Justin: Great shot, Autumn! And nice pass, Julian! Keep it up, team!
Time - 11 hours
Slowly, your team starts to catch up!
Justin: Great job! We’re almost there!
The other team shoots the ball... but it ricochets off the backboard!
Julian: I got it! I got it!
Julian boxes out the player from the other team before jumping for the rebound! He immediately throws an outlet pass to you!
Justin: Nice board, Julian!
You dribble up court... You crossover past a defender and sprint toward the basket... but suddenly another defender pops up in front of you!
Danny: Oh!
You make a quick spin dribble around the defender, and then score a layup!
Justin: Great moves, Danny!
The game continues until there are just fifteen seconds left... and your team is down by one point!
Justin: Time out! Time out!
Everyone gathers around.
Justin: Okay, we’re gonna run The Justin-oop play we practiced the other day, but this time, Danny is going to alley-oop the ball to Julian. Got it?
Julian: Got it!
Danny: Let’s do this!
After the time out, Emily takes the ball out-of-bounds and passes the ball to Julian. Julian dribbles the ball up the court as you get a screen from Alex.
Julian: Danny!
Julian passes the ball to you! You wait as he gets two screens... the clock is counting down...
Justin: Five seconds left! Four... three...
You lob the ball in the air!
Justin: Two...
Julian jumps above his defender...
Justin: One...
Julian catches the ball and quickly shoots! BUZZZZZZZZ! The ball hits the backboard and bounces around the rim... and finally falls through the net!
Danny: We won!
Rewards
Your team explodes off the bench! Everyone surrounds Julian, and Alex and Emily lift him on their shoulders!
Alex: We did it! We won!
Emily: Three cheers for Julian!
Julian: And let’s not forget our captain, who came up with the game-winning play!
Danny: Great teamwork, you guys! Now... let’s celebrate!
Part 8
Justin: It’s time to celebrate!
Your team heads over to The Pizza Shack to celebrate your hard-earned victory! As you bite into your slice of three-cheese pizza, Justin taps you on the shoulder.
Danny: Mmmmph!
Justin: Oh, sorry to interrupt, Danny. I just wanted to say thank you, for everything. It might’ve taken a while to stick, but I think I get what you were saying earlier, about how it’s better when everyone plays together. I mean, look at how well the team played in the second half!
Danny: Well, you can certainly take the credit for some of that. You were the one who pointed out people’s strengths, and you came up with that final play. You’re a great captain, Justin!
Rewards
A few days later, you and the team are warming up for the next basketball game!
Danny: I’m so glad your ankle’s all better, Justin!
Justin: Thanks, Danny! I’m excited to be back!
Julian: Now we can really destroy the other team!
Autumn: Are we going to use The Justin-oop again?
Justin: Of course! I was thinking we’d start with it!
Julian: Oh.
Justin: After all, Julian did a great job last time. How could we not use that play again? In fact, I think we need to rename it to... The Julian-oop!
Julian: Thanks, Justin. It’s all because of your great leadership!
Justin: Thanks, Julian. Okay, the game’s about to start. Everyone bring it in!
The team jogs to the bench and everyone puts their hands in the middle of the huddle.
Justin: Together on three! One... two... three...
Danny: Together!
Autumn: Let’s shoot some hoops, Danny!

Justin: It’s time to celebrate!
- Complete a Party with Justin
