At halftime during your school’s basketball game, Caitlin runs out onto the floor in a tiger costume!
Caitlin: ROOOOOOOAAAAAR!
The crowd cheers!
Danny: This is it! The debut of Caitlin as our new mascot!
Autumn: Go, Caitlin!
Payton: Woohoo! Basketball stuff! Yay, team!
Danny: I like your enthusiasm, Payton.
Payton: What can I say? I’m excited to see what Caitlin’s going to do!
Danny: You’re not the only one! Look! The basketball team came out of the locker room just to watch!
Julian: No way am I missing this!
Caitlin: Are you ready?!
Danny: This is going to be great!
Unfortunately, Caitlin starts the show off with a confusing cheer...
Caitlin: Wave your arms from front to right and then shout fight when it’s time to fight!
Autumn: I’m not sure what to do with my arms! What does front to right mean?
Danny: I don’t know...
Payton: So awks.
Reacting to the confused crowd, Caitlin grabs some t-shirts and starts throwing them into the stands...
Payton: Ooh! I want one!
...but they all flimsily land in the front rows! The rest of the fans get upset!
Payton: Hey, what about up here?! We want shirts too!
The lights go out, and a spotlight shines on Caitlin! At the far end of the court, on the other side of a trampoline, a large hoop bursts into flame!
Autumn: Ooh, is Caitlin going to jump THROUGH that?! Exciting!
Julian: STUNK DUNK! Awesome!
Danny: Maybe this will go better...
Caitlin: ROOOOOOOAAAAAR!
Caitlin runs the length of the floor, jumps toward the trampoline, and... ...panics! Caitlin flails about, slips on the edge of the trampoline, and sprawls across the floor.
Caitlin: Oof!
The tiger masks pops off... rolling lifelessly forward. It bumps into the stand holding up the flaming hoop, which teeters over, extinguishing itself with a sad fizzle.
Danny: ...or maybe it will go worse.
As the opposing crowd laughs, Caitlin quickly scrambles up, grabs the mask, and flees the gym!
Danny: Excuse me, everyone! I’ve gotta go find Caitlin!
Payton: Do you know where to look?
Danny: No... but I know someone who might!
Requirements
Jasmine: You want to find Caitlin? That shouldn’t be too hard. Whenever I want some alone time, I go to the library... or the garden where the artists hang out... Of course, a sports- enthusiast like Caitlin would probably go to the roof of the gym!
Danny: You’re a genius! That’s it! Come on!
Danny and Jasmine climb up the ladder to the roof of the gym.
Danny: I hear something! It sounds like... sad growling?
Time - 2 hours
You and Jasmine reach the roof of the gym and find Caitlin there pacing back and forth, growling sadly!
Caitlin: Grrrr...
Jasmine: She’s really committed to this mascot thing!
Danny: Caitlin? You okay?
Caitlin: Well, I just embarrassed myself in front of the whole school. And I’m a total failure as a mascot. So, no, not really.
Danny: Want to talk about it?
Caitlin: Sure...
You and Jasmine sit down beside Caitlin...
Caitlin: Back when I was at my old school, I was really shy. I thought if I were the mascot I might come out of my shell.
Jasmine: That’s a good idea.
Caitlin: Yeah, I thought I could do all kinds of crazy pranks and dances and stuff, and no one would judge me for it because I’d be behind a mask. But I never got the opportunity until I transferred here. Turns out, I was right! ...but it also turns out that being a mascot is REALLY hard!
Danny: It did look tough out there.
Caitlin: The worst part is that now everyone’s seen me... I mean, they’ve seen my face!
Danny: ...and that’s bad because?
Caitlin: Because after what happened, I don’t know if I can face THEM...
Danny: Aww, Caitlin, you can totally do it! You just need to learn a few tricks, that’s all!
Caitlin: Where am I going to learn how to be a better mascot?
Danny: Right here! This school may not offer mascot classes, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make one up!
Caitlin: We?
Danny: Sure! I’ll help you!
Caitlin: You’d do that for me? Really?
Danny: Really. Mascot class begins as soon as you’re ready! And I know exactly who should teach the first lesson!
Requirements
You and Caitlin meet up with Sarah and Kate.
Danny: If anyone can teach you how to move, Caitlin, it’s Sarah and Kate.
Caitlin: So, you saw my horrible halftime show?
Sarah: We did... but not at the game...
Caitlin: Huh?
Kate: Someone posted a video of it online, and it’s already gone viral.
Danny: Sorry, Caitlin...
Caitlin: Ugh. I think I’m going to throw up. And trust me, throwing up inside of this mask is... unpleasant.
Sarah: We’ve all had our public embarrassments. I managed to split my tights during the last scene of Hamlet... a situation in which I longed desperately NOT TO BE.
Kate: Yeah! Ha! I once tripped over my own feet so hard I knocked down out whole dance troupe.
Sarah: The point is... we’ve been there, and we can help! You just need to improve your stage presence.
Kate: And add a few new moves!
Time - 6 hours
You and Caitlin are getting a mascot lesson from Sarah and Kate...
Sarah: Obviously, with the mask on, no one can see your face, Caitlin.
Kate: So, you need to convey your emotions with your body.
Sarah: You can put your hands on your hips when you’re angry, like this!
Kate: Or you can dance, like this!
Sarah: Or you can clasp your hands together like this when you see something you really like!
Kate: OR, you can dance!
Sarah: Of course, everyone loves a good cheer move!
Kate: And everyone loves dancing!
Sarah: Seriously, Kate? I can’t take you anywhere!
Danny: Why don’t you give it a shot, Caitlin?
Caitlin: Okay... I can do this move! Or this move! Or this! Awesome!
Kate: But don’t forget...
Caitlin: Oh yeah! How could I?
Kate: You should probably have a signature move. Whichever one’s your best!
Caitlin: What do you think Danny? What’s my best move?
Danny: Cheer! I like this one!
Sarah: This could really get the crowd going!
Kate: Did you see this one?
Caitlin: I saw it, Kate.
Afterward...
Caitlin: Okay! That was fun! What’s the next lesson in mascot class?
Danny: Well, I noticed that you had some trouble distributing shirts to the crowd at the game...
Caitlin: Cotton’s not very aerodynamic...
Danny: So why don’t we talk to some people who can help? I think I know who!
Requirements
You and Caitlin enter the gym, where you find Kimia, Sebastian, and Uma! Kimia is standing beside a large object, hidden by a white sheet.
Caitlin: So, what’s this lesson about?
Kimia: Well, thanks to Danny’s suggestion regarding your ineffective shirt-tossing...
Caitlin: Don’t remind me...
Kimia: I constructed a shirt cannon!
Kimia pulls the sheet off, revealing an impressive-looking cannon, its rotating chambers loaded with t-shirts!
Danny: Whoa!
Sebastian: That looks like it can fire A LOT of shirts!
Kimia: Rapid action hydraulic coils enable a fire rate of one shirt per second!
Uma: Plus, it’s really pretty! Is that some kind of computer-optimized design?!
Kimia: No, that’s just paint.
Danny: What do you think, Caitlin?
Caitlin: Can I... Can I use it?
Kimia: Of course!
The cheerleaders run over to the bleachers to catch some shirts! Caitlin hoists up the cannon...
Time - 7 hours
Caitlin aims the t-shirt cannon at Sebastian, who is standing on the top row of the bleachers... Caitlin fires! The t-shirt flies out of the cannon and ricochets off a window above Sebastian!
Caitlin: GRRRRR!
Uma: Over here, Caitlin!
Uma waves at Caitlin from the middle section. Caitlin aims and fires! The t-shirt slams into the top row!
Caitlin: What am I doing wrong?!
Danny: I think you need to aim lower!
Caitlin aims the t-shirt cannon lower and fires! Sebastian easily catches the t-shirt!
Danny: Awesome!
Caitlin: That worked! Thanks, Danny!
Sebastian: Great job, Caitlin!
Uma: Yeah! You shouldn’t have any problems reaching the back row now!
Caitlin: I owe it to Kimia! This is genius!
Kimia: It’s just physics... and mechanics... and some simple, advanced calculus.
Caitlin: Thanks, Kimia! So... I guess I’m ready then!
Danny: Well, there is still one more lesson...
Caitlin: You’re talking about how I fell on the trampoline, huh?
Danny: Yep. And I think I’ve got just the solution in mind.
Caitlin: Is it a pair of nerd-built, never-fall super shoes?
Danny: Uhhhh... not quite.
Requirements
You and Caitlin meet Alex and Calivin after school at a park... Alex sets up a trampoline and a hoop, while Calivin lays down a crash pad.
Caitlin: What are you going to do? Teach me how to jump?
Alex: Nah. You already know how to jump.
Calivin: Yeah, you didn’t fall because of your technique. You fell ‘cause you were scared.
Caitlin: I wasn’t scared!
Alex: ...
Calivin: ...
Caitlin: Okay, maybe I was a LITTLE bit scared...
Alex: That’s why we’re here... to destroy that fear.
Danny: How are you going to do that?
Calivin: It’s easy. Caitlin just has to learn how to fall.
Caitlin: And how do I do that? Fall a bunch of times?
Alex: Yep!
Calivin: Yep!
Caitlin: Oh no...
Time - 8 hours
Caitlin stands poised to run, facing the trampoline, hoop, and crash pad set up by Alex and Calivin.
Caitlin: You’re sure this is the only way?
Alex: Yep!
Calivin: Yep!
Caitlin: Fine! Here I go!
Caitlin sprints forward, jumps onto the trampoline, and springs through the hoop, arms flailing!
Caitlin: YAAAAAAAAA... oof!
Caitlin lands on the crash pad!
Alex: Whoa! You got so much air!
Calivin: How was that?
Caitlin: Good... I... I learned my lesson.
Alex: Fat chance. Let’s do it a hundred more times!
Calivin: Or a thousand!
Caitlin: Or once. We could try ONCE more.
A moment later, Caitlin flies through the air again...
Caitlin: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... oof!
Alex: Awesome! You got even higher!
Calivin: Yeah, it’s working! You didn’t wave your arms around as much that time!
Caitlin falls and falls and falls, until finally collapsing in a heap on the crash pad.
Caitlin: Oof!
...but Caitlin doesn’t get up...
Danny: Caitlin? You okay?
Alex: Did we break her?
Caitlin rolls over and sits up.
Caitlin: Actually, even after all this abuse, I’m mostly okay! This suit’s got more padding than you’d think!
Danny: Well, Caitlin, think you’re ready to try a show again?
Caitlin: Oh yeah! Nothing to fear!

Danny: I’m excited too!
Caitlin: Are you cool with tossing me the basketball after I jump through the hoop of fire?
Danny: I’m on it!
Caitlin: Wait... what’s the other team’s mascot up to?

Caitlin: Their mascot is so athletic...
Then, the rival mascot shouts into a megaphone! The entire opposing crowd yells back!

The other team’s cheerleaders bring out a couch, and the rival mascot sits down, munching on a bag of popcorn... The mascot points to the Jumbotron, and the video of Caitlin’s previous performance plays...
Caitlin: Oh no...
The other team’s crowd cheers and laughs when Caitlin’s mask pops off!
Caitlin: I hadn’t seen the video before... I didn’t realize it looked THAT bad...
Danny: What are you saying?
Caitlin: I don’t know if I can go out there!
Time - 10 hours
Danny: Of course you can go out there, Caitlin! It’s what you were meant to do!
Caitlin: But what if something goes wrong?!
Danny: From what I can tell, something is DEFINITELY going to go wrong.
Caitlin: Not expecting you to say that...
Danny: It’s true. Maybe the crowd won’t like your poses... or maybe the t-shirt cannon will misfire... maybe you’ll mess up your jump... But how you use the lessons you’ve learned and how you improvise when something does go wrong, that’s the mark of a true mascot!
Caitlin: Do you actually think I have what it takes?
Danny: For sure! I mean, you aced mascot class!
Caitlin: You really mean it?
Danny: Of course! You’re going to be fine... in fact, you’re going to be better than fine. You’re going to be awesome!
Caitlin: Yeah! All right! Let’s do this!
Danny: One more thing before you go out there...
Caitlin: What is it, Danny?
Danny: For what it’s worth, you don’t need the mask to be an amazing mascot.
Caitlin: ...
Danny: Caitlin?
Caitlin: Oh, I’m smiling! I forgot that you can’t see my face! Thanks, Danny!
The lights go out, and the spotlight shines on Caitlin!

Caitlin: ROOOOOOOAAAAAR!
Requirements

Danny: Oh no!
The crowd gasps! Time seems to stand still!
Time - 9 hours
In mid-air, without a basketball, Caitlin fast...
Caitlin: ROOOOOOOAAAAAR!
...and yanks off the mascot head, dunking it through the hoop! The crowd explodes in a franzy of excitement!
Payton: Ohmygosh! Twist!
Autumn: How did Caitlin do that?!
Julian: Best stunk dunk ever!
Danny: Best show ever!
The rest of the game plays out...
Payton: Another two points for us! We’re SO going to win!
Autumn: And look! Caitlin’s doing a victory dance!
Caitlin: Who is the best?! We are the best!
Julian: Ha! We have such a cool mascot!
Danny: Way to go, Caitlin!
After the game, Caitlin gives you a big tiger hug!
Caitlin: I don’t think I could have done this without you! I definitely wouldn’t have had the skills or the confidence to step out onto the court... And without your inspiring words about improvising, I never would have thought to dunk my own head!
Danny: That’s not a sentence I expect to hear very often...
Caitlin: I also wouldn’t have realized what all of this is about, what it REALLY means to be a mascot.
Danny: And what’s that?
Caitlin: A mascot is a symbol of playfulness and fun... it’s a symbol of positivity in your school.
Danny: I think that’s a good description of what you are, Caitlin.
Caitlin: Thanks, but it’s also a symbol of what you are, Danny.
Danny: What are you saying?
Caitlin: I’m saying we could all use a little mascot in our lives... and we could all use a lot of Danny.
Danny: Awww! You’re so nice!
Caitlin: ...
Danny: Are you smiling again, Caitlin?
Caitlin: Oh, whoops! I was. Guess I should have used my signature move!

Caitlin flies across the court, jumps onto the trampoline, and sours through the flaming hoop! You toss the basketball perfectly to Caitlin... ...but Caitlin bobbles it! The ball ricochets way!
