You return to Professor Edwin with Berry and Ashton, ready to take notes.
Berry: Reporting for duty!
Ashton: I love taking minutes! I could take them for hours!
Danny: So what’s this big announcement you have for me?
Prof. Edwin: I have some exciting news! The school board has decided that every school in the district will be holding an Innovation Challenge!
Danny: What’s an Innovation Challenge?
Prof. Edwin: I’ll explain, but it might take a while...
Time - 8 hours
Danny: So what exactly is this ‘Innovation Challenge’ you mentioned?
Prof. Edwin: It’s a school-wide competition of business entrepreneurship! Students will come up with an idea for a business and present it in a showcase! After that, I will narrow it down to two finalists, who will face off in a business plan pitch-off!
Danny: Sounds like a lot of fun!
Prof. Edwin: This school has made some impressive progress since the whole Science Fair debacle, and I understand we have you to thank for that. That said, we’d like a student representative to help organize and publicize the event... and to lead the panel of student judges for the final round! ...and I can think of no better candidate than you, Danny!
Danny: Wow! I’m honored! I’ll get started right away and spread the word!
Later, the whole school is abuzz with excitement for the Innovation Challenge. As you walk the campus, Sakura greets you and pulls you aside.
Sakura: Danny! I hear you’re kinda in charge of this business challenge thing.
Danny: I’m helping organize it, yeah.
Sakura: Well, I got a business that’s going to DESTROY the competition. All I need is the right crew and a LOT of space!
Requirements
You meet Sakura on a wide plot of land, where a team of nerds is busily tinkering away at some machines. Each one is like an armored toolbox on wheels.
Danny: Whoa! What’s all this?
Sakura: This is my business idea for the Innovation Challenge! I have a crack team of techies doing research and development, and the shrewdest, most devious schemer I know handling the business end!
Wes: I’ll take that as a compliment.
Danny: That’s great... but what’s your product?
Sakura: Sakura’s remote-controlled fighting robots... or SakuBots!
Danny: Fighting robots? That sounds fun!
Sakura: Yup! It’s like prize fighting, but less realistic. Or Pokemon, but MORE realistic! And you’re just in time to see a test run...
Sakura pounds a fist into her palm, then takes up a remote control!
Sakura: Battleaxe Empress, online!
A stocky, menacing SakurBot with axe blades for hands whirs to life!
Wes: Sorry, boss. Can’t let you have all the glory.
Wes takes a remote, and a smaller, quicker SakuBot switches on, stabbing the air with a miniature spear!
Wes: Your bot may have the power, but harpoon Mongoose has got the speed!
Sakura: No way! Danny, who do YOU think will win?
Danny: Battleaxe Empress! I think the odds are with Battleaxe Empress. All that power is gonna make a difference!
The SakuBots raise their weapons and charge toward each other!
Sakura: Go! Destroy!
Battleaxe Empress swings its heavy blade over and over, but Harpoon Mongoose darts around, dodging every strike!
Wes: Ha! Coming in for the final blow!
Harpoon Mongoose circles around and lances the spearpoint towards its opponent’s back... ...but Battleaxe Empress spins like a tornado! Its axe blades lop off Harpoon Mongoose’s head!
Sakura: Boom! Headshot!
Danny: Yes! I knew it!
Sakura: Was there ever any doubt?
Wes: I... I lost? You better believe we’re having a rematch!
Danny: Well, win or lose, that looked like a ton of fun! I’m sure your product will do great in the Challenge!
Just then, your phone buzzes in your pocket! You check the display...
Wes: What’s up, Danny?
Danny: Just got a text... more of my friends want to show me their business plans!
Requirements
You find Alexandra, Hsin, and Jeff in one of the classrooms on campus, drawing up some blueprints...
Danny: Hey everyone! What’s going on?
Alexandra: Danny! There you are!
Hsin: We wanted to show you our idea for a new business!
Jeff: And it’s going to change nightlife as we know it!
With a flourish, Alexandra unfurls the blueprint and presents it to you...
Time - 12 hours
Danny: Whoa, what is this?
Alexandra: This is our blueprint for ‘The Ice Breaker’, the first nightclub for shy people!
Danny: Shy people?
Jeff: Yeah! Instead of a dancefloor, we have a space filled with comfy couches and snack tables! No more pressure to dance in front of everyone!
Alexandra: This way, people can still enjoy all the music they love while socializing comfortably!
Hsin: It’s perfect! No more putting your heart and pride out on a limb, navigating the tumultuous waters of the club scene’s social labyrinth!
Danny: I gotta admit... that sounds like a cool place to hang out!
As you leave the classroom, Julian calls to you from across the quad.
Julian: Hey, Danny! Come quick!
Danny: What is it?
Julian: There’s something you’ve got to see!
Requirements
You follow Julian as he leads you to a grove of trees on the edge of campus.
Julian: Here we are.
Danny: I assumed you were going to show me your business pitch... but this just looks like a plain old patch of trees.
Julian: Ha... sure it does. Until you look UP...
Danny: Whoa!
Time - 16 hours
You look up to discover Autumn in a newly constructed treehouse!
Autumn: What do you think of our product? ‘Autumn & Julian’s Custom Treehouses’!
Danny: Wow! Did you build this?
Autumn: Yeah! Well... I did have a little help from Julian.
Julian: A ‘little’?
Autumn: Okay, a LOT. Julian’s pretty amazing when it comes to working with his hands.
Julian: Yeah, I guess I picked up a few things while volunteering for Places for People. But Autumn’s art skills are what’s gonna make these houses complete!
Autumn: I just need to choose a theme for the treehouse. What do you think, Danny?
Danny: Pirate ship!
Autumn paints the treehouse like an old Spanish galley as Julian attaches a cannon that functions as a real working watergun!
Danny: Wow! Set a course for adventure!
Autumn: ...really?
Danny: Sorry. It’s the best line I could think of. But the pint is, this treehouse looks great!
Autumn: Thanks! We hope to sell more customized treehouses just like this!
Julian: I would’ve love something like this growing up! I’m happy just knowing it’s gonna make some kid’s day.
Autumn: Aww, Julian that’s so sweet!
Later, you sit in the treehouse with Julian and Autumn, a voice calls from down below.
Payton: Danny! I need your help!
Danny: What’s wrong?
Payton: PaytonDatin’ needs its first two test customers!
Danny: PaytonDatin’
Payton: My custom date-planning and matchmaking service! It’s my business idea for the Innovation Challenge. My office is all set up, I just need help finding two people to go on the first official PaytonDate!
Danny: That shouldn’t be too hard to find...
Payton: It can’t be just ANYONE though! If I really want to show off my matchmaking skills, it’s got to be two people who are SUPER different!
Requirements
You bring Maddie and Nalo to the room Payton has claimed as headquarters.
Payton: Welcome to PaytonDatin’! You all know Mia, my Business Manager.
Danny: Business Manager?
Mia: What can I say? I like handling money.
Payton looks to Maddie and Nalo.
Payton: Oh, you two are perfect!
Maddie: ‘Perfect’? You mean... for each other?
Nalo: I’m not sure I have anything in common with Maddie. We come from pretty different cliques.
Payton: Oh, leave that part to me! Just fill out these personality questionnaires, and I’ll plan the perfect date for you two!
Later...
Payton: It’s done! I’ve planned the perfect date for you two! Just follow this itinerary!
Nalo and Maddie take the itinerary from Payton and leave the office arm-in-arm!
Time - 18 hours
Later, Maddie and Nalo return to the PaytonDatin’ office...
Danny: So? How did your date go?
Nalo: It was great! Payton suggested a walking tour of the old City Hall! Maddie told me all about the history involved...
Maddie: ...and Nalo taught me all about the retro architecture of the building!
Nalo: Afterwards, we had coffee at a little cafe Payton recommended.
Payton: They usually have the news playing on their TV... but I pulled some strings and had them play the Daily show!
Maddie: And it was perfect! With my love of politics and Nalo’s snarky wit, it turns out we BOTH love political comedy!
Nalo: We were talking and laughing for hours after that! It really was an amazing date! Thank you, Payton!
Maddie and Nalo wave and turn for the exit, grinning and holding hands.
Mia: Thank you for datin’ with PaytonDatin’! We’ll be sending you an email to discuss payment options later!
Danny: Wow, Payton! I’m impressed! Your business plan seems pretty promising!
Payton: ...and romantic!
Later, you walk past the Artist Hangout, when a row of odd, painted figurines in the window catches your eye!
Danny: Whoa, what are those?
Requirements
You walk into the Artist Hangout to find Nick and Hames poring over small plastic figures on a desk.
Danny: Hey, guys. What are you up to?
Nick: Danny! I was just about to text you! We have something you should see...
James: We’ve found a product to sell for the Innovation Challenge... and it’s the perfect blend of art and gaming!
Time - 20 hours
Danny: So what’s this perfect product?
Nick reveals the fruit of their work... an intricately painted miniature figure of a fierce medieval warrior!
Nick: It’s a miniature for tabletop gaming!
James: Usually, we gamers have to build and paint these ourselves... but with Nick’s artistic touch, we can take these to the next level!
Danny: Wow! The detail on this is amazing!
Nick: Thanks! I try to put a little bit of love into each one. Those are real druidic runes carved into that berserker’s enchanted axe blade!
James: I can’t wait to have these designs locked down so we can start mass producing!
Nick: Wait... mass producing? But... what about the uniqueness of each piece? The soul I put into each one?
James: How will we monetize with such a scarce amount of product?
Danny: It might work out in your favor. With each piece so unique, it might raise demand!
James: So each piece is a special limited edition!
Nick: I like it!
Later, Ezra comes up to you, looking excited.
Ezra: Wait until you see MY business idea in action. It totally rocks!
Danny: I’m looking forward to it.
Ezra: For a full demonstration make sure you’re there at my party tonight.
Danny: Heh. I wouldn’t miss it.
Requirements
At Ezra’s party...
Danny: Hey, has anyone seen Ezra? I’m supposed to check out his business idea.
Payton: I haven’t seen him all might...
Julian: Me neither. Pretty weird to throw a party and not show up.
Just then, the doorbell rings.
Danny: I guess I’ll get it.
You open it to find Ezra, holding a guitar and breaking into song!
Ezra: I... am... your singing Ezra-gram!
Danny: This... is... unexpected.
Ezra continues his song.
Ezra: Oh you can’t put a price on music, it’s true... but I’ll sing you a song for a dollar or two! It’s cool, and it’s fun, and it rocks, and it’s glam... the best gift ever, an Ezra-gram!
Danny: Heh. Great idea, Ezra! I’d definitely pay to have you deliver a message or two.
Payton: Even bad news would sound good coming from your lips!
Ezra: Thanks, everyone! Here, have some business cards!
You start walking away when Ezra stops you.
Ezra: Wait a minute, Danny. Some people were looking for you... I think one of them was in marching band? They wanted some advice on their business plan. They’re over there if you want to talk to them...
Requirements
You run into Skylar and Jessie.
Skylar: Danny!
Jessie: Just the person we wanted to see!
Danny: It’s nice to see you too! I hear you wanted to talk about your business plan?
Skylar: Yes. We do. Jessie, want to tell Danny about our business?
Jessie: You’re the best at it... you should do it.
Skylar: That’s not true. You pitch it just as well!
Jessie: No... you do it better!
Danny: Uh...
Skylar: No... you!
Time - 22 hours
And some time later...
Danny: Uh, guys? What is your business plan?
Jessie: You tell!
Skylar: Aw, we’ll say it together. We came up with something we’re both passionate about. You know how much I love band...
Danny: It’s like you wear your band uniform all the time!
Jessie: ...and you know how much I love organizing and keeping things in place... so we came up with the perfect business plan!
Skylar: We CLEAN trombones! The company’s called ‘Snake in the Brass’!
Jessie: Because the brush you use to clean trombones is called a ‘snake’!
Danny: Oh! That’s... great! Well, if I had any dusty trombones, you’d be the first people I’d visit.
Skylar: Yeah, well... that’s kind of the problem...
Jessie: Now as many people in this school have trombones in need of cleaning as we’d thought.
Skylar: Any advice on what we should do? Business is pretty slow as it is.
Danny: Why don’t you expand to different instruments? There are tons of other instruments that I’m sure need cleaning too! Violins, pianos, drums...
Skylar: Whoa, whoa, whoa, let’s not get ahead of ourselves... trombones are my first love.
Jessie: I don’t know, Skylar. Danny’s idea would give us more business.
Skylar: I guess so...
Jessie: Plus, we don’t have to do EVERY instrument. What about just the brass instruments?
Skylar: Sold! Good idea, Danny!
Jessie: Thanks!
Suddenly, you feel your phone buzz in your pocket and check the incoming text.
Danny: It’s from Nishan!
‘Might want to come by my hangout. Bring some skaters. Bout to make history. No big deal.’
Danny: Oh no... what could he be up to now?
Requirements
You arrive at Nishan’s hangout with John and Nate in tow. Nishan is tinkering with a pair of odd machines on a workbench.
Danny: What are you working on, Nishan? You said you were about to make history.
Nishan: Oh yeah! It’s the product I plan to sell for the Innovation Challenge! Quick, what’s the coolest thing from Back to the Future II?
John: Time travel!
Nishan: ...okay, what’s the SECOND coolest thing from Back to the Future II?
Nate: Hoverboards!
Nishan: Hoverboards. I’ve built some prototypes, and now I have the perfect people to test them!
John and Nate take machines from the workbench and place them on the floor. Slowly, they begin to float...
Danny: Whoa!
Time - 19 hours
You and Nishan watch as John and Nate coast into motion on the prototype hoverboards, speeding across campus!
Danny: That’s amazing!
Nishan: Ha! Once I get my design perfected, these will sell like floating hotcakes!
Suddenly, a pair of crashes ring out in the distance!
Nishan: Oh no!
You and Nishan rush towards the sound... and find John and Nate hanging from a tree! Below them, the hoverboards are nothing but a smoking ruin of broken parts!
Danny: Are you two all right?
John: Yeah, we’re fine.
Nate: We were just skating around, and all of a sudden the boards wiggled out and threw us into the air!
John: Luckily this tree broke our fall. The boards weren’t so lucky though. Crashed into the side of that Prep Hangout. Woops.
Nishan: The boards threw you? Did you do anything to capsize the delicately calibrated thruster equilibrium?
Nate: You mean like... with a kickflip?
Nishan: Yeah... exactly like with a kickflip. I’ll have a rebuild... Try not to be so ‘xtreme’ next time, yeah?
John: That’s like asking the sun not to shine. No promises, bro.
You help Nishan collect the parts of his hoverboards.
Nishan: Thanks for your help, but I’ll be fine here, Danny. Shouldn’t you get going? The preliminary showcase for the Innovation Challenge starts later today!
Danny: Oh my gosh, you’re right! I’ve got to gather everyone and help prepare!
Requirements
Later, you stand with Professor Edwin on the stage of the auditorium and address the large crowd of students in attendance.
Danny: Thank you all for participating in our school’s first Innovation Challenge! After the showcase, two businesses will be chosen to advance to the finals! Good luck!
One by one, the students present their ideas onstage, from Autumn & Julian’s Treehouses to Sakura’s fighting SakuBots... At the end of the presentations, Professor Edwin calls you over.
Prof. Edwin: We have to narrow the field down to two finalists, and I’d like some student input. Would you join me in deliberating?
Danny: Sure!
Time - 21 hours
Later...
Danny: ...and the custom game figurines could be popular, but are a hard business to expand. Nishan’s hoverboards would be a hit, but they’re still in the testing phase.
Prof. Edwin: Hmm... all wonderful points, Danny. I’ll take all of your insight into consideration!
Prof. Edwin: We’re almost ready to announce our two finalists. Make sure to rally the crowd for the announcement!
Danny: Sure thing!
Requirements
You call for the crowd to take their seats, and a hush falls over the audience. Professor Edwin steps to the podium to address them.
Prof. Edwin: We’ve seen a lot of talented future business leaders today. Only two ideas will advance... And the two businesses that will be moving on to the final round of the Innovation Challenge will be...
Berry: Fingers crossed...
Ashton: Who will it be? I can’t wait!
Time - 23 hours
Prof. Edwin: And the two businesses that will be moving on to the final round of the Innovation Challenge will be... ...SakuBots and PaytonDatin’!
Sakura: Yes! Achievement unlocked!
Payton: Woop woop!
Danny: Congrats, you two! You’ll each have a few days to get your businesses ready for presentation in the final showdown!
Payton: I can’t wait!
Sakura: Bring it on!
Only two businesses remain... but which one will succeed in the final round? Keep playing to find out!

- Nishan
- A Level 6+ Skater (John)
- A Level 6+ Skater (Nate)
- Danny
- A Classmate Except Danny (Berry)
- A Classmate Except Danny (Ashton)
