Autumn: Hey, Danny, it’s the time of year for giving thanks... Some of us have been talking, and we realized what we’re most thankful for is this school, and all the wonderful opportunities we’ve had since we enrolled.
Danny: What do you mean?
Julian: Well, if I’d never come here, I wouldn’t be playing football.
Autumn: And I wouldn’t have friends that appreciated my art.
Payton: And I’d still be every bit as amazingly fabulous... but nobody else would know that.
Autumn: And it’s not just us. Everyone at this school has a similar story.
Payton: We’d like to do something to celebrate!
Danny: ...so like, throw a party?
Danny: But don’t you guys have other plans for the Thanksgiving holiday?
Autumn: Actually, my dad had to leave town on business.
Payton: And my family is going to have a great, big meal with all of our extended family there... But it’s against my code to say ‘no’ to a party! I can do both!
Danny: Say no more, guys. Let’s go round everyone up and tell them the news!
Requirements
You, Autumn, Payton, and Julian address a large crowd of classmates.
Payton: Thanksgiving is the time when we give thanks for what we have, and we’re thinking of having a huge Thanksgiving meal to celebrate!
Maddie: I don’t know... I’ve never really celebrated Thanksgiving.
Danny: Not a problem. Because this isn’t Thanksgiving... We’re celebrating FRIENDSGIVING!
Sebastian: ...Friendsgiving? What’s that about?
Danny: It’s a day to show our appreciation for all the wonderful FRIENDS that we’ve made at this school.
Kate: That sounds fun!
A wave of enthusiastic approval ripples through the gathered crowd!
Time - 6 hours
The crowd continues to cheer! Several classmates step forward to volunteer.
Maddie: Student Government can organize the meal!
Sebastian: And the cheerleaders can set the tables with festive holiday decorations!
Kate: And if you need servers... the dancers are pretty light on their feet!
Autumn: Wow... it seems everybody is loving Friendsgiving!
Julian: Why wouldn’t they? What kind of crazy person says ‘no thanks’ to chowing down on tons of tasty food?
Payton: And speaking of ‘tasty’... I’ve got something special planned for dessert!
After the crowd disperses, Autumn runs up to you.
Autumn: I was just talking to Maddie, and the Student Government tasked the jocks and nerds with cooking. They wanted an outside opinion on the dinner menu. Want to go meet the chefs?
Requirements
Autumn leads you to the kitchen. There, the Student Gov guys and girls supervise the jocks and nerds as they put together dishes for dinner.
Autumn: Maddie, it smells wonderful in here!
Maddie: Hopefully, it tastes pretty good too.
Danny: Let’s find out!
Time - 8 hours
Maddie leads you and Autumn over to where the jocks are pounding cranberries into jelly...
Danny: You know, you could just COOK them down...
Calivin: Yeah, but this way we work up an appetite!
Nearby, the nerds cheer along with several small detonations. They present you with a delicious, smoldering mass.
Zayn: This is our baked potato! We cooked it with science!
Danny: ...really? It sounded like explosions!
Zayn: Explosions are science.
Danny: This all looks like it’s going great. So what was the problem, Maddie?
Maddie: So far, we’ve only been working on side dishes. We weren’t sure which entrée would be most popular.
Danny: Hmm, well, it is Friendsgiving, so we should probably have turkey!
Maddie: Great idea! Turkey is pretty classic... we’ll get started right away!
A short while later, you and the Student Govs are gathered around a barbecue put. You stand in a circle, watching the flames flicker, almost hypnotized.
Maddie: Fire... pretty...
Danny: What is it about cooking meat that turns people into cavemen?
Autumn runs over to join you.
Autumn: Hey, Danny, if you’re not stuck in the Stone Age, the cheerleaders would like you opinion on the decorations for the tables.
Danny: Sounds... good... Er, I mean, sounds good! Let’s go check it out!
Requirements
Autumn leads you over to where cheerleaders are decorating tables with festive tablecloths and harvest-themed serving dishes.
Channing: So how is it looking, Danny?
Danny: Ooh... I’m FALL-ing for how beautifully seasonal this all is!
Sebastian: Oh yeah? Wait till you get a closer look...
Time - 10 hours
You walk among the tables, and Channing and Sebastian explain everything that you can see in greater detail.
Channing: We started with season-specific colors like red, orange, and brown for the primary palette.
Sebastian: Then we added gold accents for visual interest.
Autumn: Well, I think everything looks perfect.
Channing: Well, ALMOST perfect...
Channing points to an empty spot in the middle of the nearest table.
Sebastian: We still haven’t decided on our centerpieces! What do you think we should make?
Danny: Hmm. Have you considered lots of school photos. The purpose of Friendsgiving is to celebrate all of the amazing friends we’ve made at this school... We could use school photos to highlight that!
Channing: Oh, that’s so sweet. I love it!
Sebastian: Thanks, Danny!
A short while later, the tables are capped with centerpieces and dancers carry in trays of piping-hot food...
Julian: Yo, it’s time to eat, everybody! Dinner is served!
Payton: I’m gonna get my eat on!
Requirements
You sit at a table, right in front of an enormous centerpiece that showcases tons of school photos.
Autumn: I want to say this centerpiece is beautiful... but I took a bunch of these photos. Would that sound vain?
Payton: Nope! I think it’s beautiful too! Of course, I was IN a lot of these photos...
Next to you, Julian digs into his main course.
Julian: Mmm, this turkey is so good!
Payton: Careful not to eat too much, or you’ll get sleepy!
Julian: YAWN! Wait... what did you say?
The Friendsgiving dinner continues, full of good food and good conversation. After the lengthy meal, everyone reclines... just stuffed.
Julian: So... full...
Payton: Whee! I hope you all saved room for dessert... Because someone bright PIE! It was ME! I brought pie!
Payton runs around the table, giving everyone their own miniature pumpkin pie.
Danny: Aww, these are so cute and little!
Payton: Everyone loves cupcakes, and those are tiny cakes... so I thought I’d bake us all some teeny-tiny pies!
Julian: What are they called? Cup pies? Cuppies?
Payton: You’re over-thinking it, Julian. Now everyone gather around. I want to explain the rules!
Danny: ...rules?
Payton: Of course, there are rules! We can’t have a PIE-EATING CONTEST without rules, can we?
Danny: Guess not!
Payton: First up, find someone to sit across from!
Requirements
You take a seat opposite Berry.
Danny: Mind if I sit here?
Berry: Why not? You’ll have a nice view of me winning!
All the other participants find their seats too. Payton walks the ranks like a drill sergeant.
Payton: The rules are simple: after I blow this whistle, the first person to finish their pie WITHOUT using their hands WINS!
Julian: Heh... This should be a snap. My mom says I eat so fast, I barely use my hands anyway.
Autumn: I wouldn’t get too cocky, Julian... I do appreciate dessert!
Payton: Ready? On your mark, get set...
Time - 14 hours
Payton: ...GO!
Payton blows her whistle, and the pie-eating contest begins. Everyone smashed their faces down into the pie filling.
Berry: Chomp!
You start to eat! You take a big bite of your mini-pie!
Danny: Mmm... that’s good!
You take another big bite, Near you, Julian is almost finished with his pie. The crowd watching starts to cheer him on!
Julian: Heh... I SO got this!
Danny: (Uh-oh... this is my last chance. Better hurry!)
You take one more big bite and gulp it down, finishing your pie right before Julian can finish his!
Julian: Whu--? No way!
Payton: And the winner is... Danny!
Everyone cheers!
Danny: Actually, I think the real winner was EVERYONE, because we ALL got to eat pie!
Berry: I second that!
Payton pulls out a small crown and places it on your head. The crowd applauds.
Payton: I dub thee Pie-Eating Champion of the first Friendsgiving!
Danny: Yay!
After dessert, Autumn pulls you aside.
Autumn: This really was a wonderful party, Danny. I was thinking only one thing could make it better... if you said a few words.
Danny: You want me to give a SPEECH?
Autumn: You WERE the first student. That makes you special. I think you saying something would mean a lot to everyone.
Danny: Okay, well... I’ll do my best.
Requirements
You step out on a small, portable riser to address your assembled classmates.
Danny: Ahem... uh, hello...?
Everyone turns to face you, eagerly anticipating your speech.
Jeff: ...
Berry: ...
Time - 18 hours
All eyes are on you as you begin your speech.
Danny: Welcome, everyone, to our very first Friendsgiving, a day when we take a moment to celebrate all the relationships we’ve made at this school. And on a day like this, it’s only natural that our thoughts would drift toward the future. Our school is getting bigger every day! Tomorrow could bring a hundred new friends, like musicians, rebels, celebrities... But no matter how big, we’ll never forget our promise... A promise that this school would ensure that no one felt left out! A promise that no matter who you were or what you liked doing, you’d always be included. And we owe everything to each other. People are what make a school great. YOU make this school great. And I’m certain there’s no limit to the amazing things we can accomplish. We’re strong... we’re strong because we’re united. Individually, we all endured hardships, but we’ve become so much more than the sum of our parts. We’re a school, but we’re so much more than a school. We’re FRIENDS, each and every one of us! And in conclusion, I just want to say... HAPPY FRIENDSGIVING!
There is one loud clap from the back of the audience. Then another... Pretty soon everyone is up on their feet clapping and cheering.
Jeff: Bravo! Bravo!
Berry: That was so... beautiful, Danny!
After Friendsgiving ends, you stay back to help clean up.
Autumn: Aww, I’m really glad we did this. It was so great sharing a meal with everyone...
Payton: And don’t forget the pie!
Julian: Or that killer speech that Danny gave. That was incredible!
Danny: I just said what was in my heart.
Autumn: Well, since we all had such a great time, we just have to make this a new school tradition!
Danny: ...we’ll see. A lot could happen in a year.
Payton: Next year! Next year!
Julian: I know! How about this for a new school tradition? Danny gives a speech every time something cool happens!
Autumn: SPEECH... SPEECH!
Danny: Guys, that’s not very... Guys?
Autumn, Payton, and Julian continue to dance and cheer loudly.
Danny: Okay... fine, I give up... Next year! Whoo! HAPPY FRIENDSGIVING!
