Requirements
As the first class of the morning comes to an end, you and your friends walk out into the hall.
Payton: Hey... did anyone notice anything different today?
Julian: Nishan didn’t remind the teacher to give us homework?
Payton: No! Koh was missing!
Danny: You’re right! Maybe she got sick? I hope she’s feeling okay.
Julian: Wait a minute. There she is! Down the hall!
Koh: ...
Danny: And she looks furious!
Time - 6 hours
Julian: Koh’s coming this way, and she does NOT look happy!
Payton: Okay, I think we should be extra cheerful around her, just in case.
Julian: Payton, aren’t you already at maximum cheerful all the time?
Payton: I try to be! But maybe I just need to push myself to be even MORE cheerful!
Just then, Koh comes stomping up to her locker, grumbling under her breath.
Danny: Hi, Koh! Good morning!
Koh: Nothing! I’m fine!
Payton: Huh?
Koh: Oh... sorry. I thought you asked what was wrong. But don’t bother, ‘cause I DON’T wanna talk about it!
Danny: That’s fine. You don’t have to--
Koh: All right, quit twisting my arm! I was having breakfast at Wings Atomica, and some jerk backed into my bike in the parking lot!
Payton: Why were you having hot wings for breakfast?
Koh: Because someone told me I couldn’t.
Julian: Whoa. Hardcore.
Koh: Anyway, I had to catch a late bus to school, ‘cause the bike’s busted!
Payton: Oh no!
Danny: Well, we can help you fix the bike, Koh!
Julian: Yeah! And then we can all take turns riding it around--
Koh: Not happening. No one touches my bike but me.
Danny: Okay, we won’t ride it, but we’d love to help fix it if you’ll let us. It’s really no problem!
Payton: Yeah! I don’t know much about motorcycles, but I do know teamwork! And moral support! And friendship!
Koh: I said I’ve got it covered, okay?
Koh turns and storms off!
Payton: Was that too much cheerful? ...that was too much cheerful.
Danny: I think there might be more to this than Koh’s letting on. I’ll go talk to her.
Requirements
That afternoon, you go over to the Rebel Hangout and find Koh struggling with the wreckage of her bike.
Koh: Danny, no offense, but if you’re here to talk about my feelings, I’m not in the mood...
Danny: No problem. Let’s just focus on your bike. How are the repairs going?
Koh: Not great, to be honest.
Danny: What’s the problem?
Koh: Well for one thing, it’s these manuals! I swear they were written by the nerdiest nerds ever! ‘Apply rotational pressure’? Just say ‘twist the thing’! And half of these tools I don’t even own! I’m never going to be able to fix this!
Danny: It’ll be all right, Koh. I’m sure we could find the right tools at the Nerd Hangout.
Koh: It’s... not just that. This bike belonged to my grandma.
Danny: Whoa! Your grandma was a tough biker chick too?
Koh: Where do you think I got it?
Danny: This bike must be pretty old then, right?
Koh: Yeah. I mean, it’s awesome that it survived this long, but there are a lot of features that come standard with newer models... There are definitely days that I wouldn’t mind having a bit more horsepower or a radio or at least a decent paint job...
Danny: Well, why not treat this as an opportunity to add all those things? Maybe we can get the whole school involved with the repairs and throw in a few improvements!
Koh: No way. NOTHING changes, got it?
Danny: Okay, forget I said anything!
Koh looks away from you as she struggles to loosen a rusted bolt on the motorcycle’s frame.
Koh: Anyway, there’s no point in daydreaming because the repairs alone are pretty much impossible!
Koh tosses the wrench on the floor and storms toward the exit!
Danny: Koh! Wait! Where are you going?
Koh: Gotta clear my head. Don’t wait around.
Later, you meet back up with Julian and Payton.
Julian: Hey, Danny. Was Koh okay?
Danny: She’s pretty stressed. It turns out the motorcycle used to belong to her grandmother. It means a lot to her.
Payton: Oh no! Is there anything we can do for her?
Julian: When have you ever seen Koh ask for help?
Danny: Good point. Well, if she’s going to be stubborn about this, then so are we.
Requirements
You head to the Nerd Hangout where you find Nishan, Kimia, and Zayn poring over some calculus work.
Danny: Hey guys! I was wondering if you could--
Kimia: Sorry, Danny, no time to talk. We’re a little swamped right now.
Zayn: Yeah, we’re only three chapters ahead in calculus class. We’ve really gotta pick up the pace!
Danny: Oh, okay. I was just hoping you could help me fix Koh’s motorcycle.
Nishan: Oh, it’s for Koh? Why didn’t you say so?
Zayn: We’d be happy to help Koh!
Kimia: Not because we’re scared of her or anything!
The three of them pack up their things and follow you out of the room.
Nishan: Nerds... ASSEMBLE!
Time - 8 hours
After hours of work, Nishan, Kimia, and Zayn begin the finishing touches on Koh’s bike repairs.
Kimia: This machine is now in optimal working order!
Danny: That’s great!
Zayn: And we’re thinking about attaching this sweet sidecar!
Nishan: It seats another passenger! Koh and a friend will be able to ride around like the Dynamic Duo!
Danny: I don’t think that’s really Koh’s style--
Just then, the door to the Rebel Hangout flies open! You turn to find Koh in the doorway, shocked!
Koh: What’s going on?!
Nishan: Surprise! We fixed your motorcycle!
Koh: Step away from the bike! And is that a SIDECAR?! Get that monstrosity OUT of here! I ride ALONE!
Zayn: Okay, okay! No sidecar, got it!
Nishan: I think you’ll like what we did with the engine, though...
Koh: What did you do, Nishan?
Nishan: We took the liberty of increasing the engine’s horsepower a bit.
Kimia: Actually, ‘a bit’ is sort of an understatement...
Nishan: Okay, we increased it by a lot! It’s the same engine as before, but we modified it. Here, listen to this...
Nishan kick starts the bike and revs the engine! A loud bass roar fills the Rebel Hangout!
Koh: Aw, man! That sounds amazing! But you shouldn’t have touched my bike, Nishan! I just wanted it to be the same as it always was!
Nishan: You don’t like the engine?
Koh: I mean... yeah! But now I owe you guys, and I HATE owing people!
Kimia: You don’t owe us anything!
Zayn: It’s really not necessary.
Koh: No, it really is. I insist. What can I do for you nerds?
Nishan: No, no. We couldn’t possibly impose...
Koh: I said I INSIST!
Nishan: Okay! Okay!
Zayn: In that case, there IS something you might be able to help us with...
Requirements
Koh: So, what’s it gonna be, dorks? You helped me, now let me help you.
Kimia: Well, we could use your help with Warzone: Everywhere--
Koh: Heh, no problem. I’m prestige-ranked in that game.
Nishan: It’s not the game we’re struggling with...
Zayn: We always get matched against this one clan that trash talks us nonstop!
Danny: That’s awful!
Koh: Nah, it’s just part of the game. Let’s play a match against these guys... I’ll do the talking.
Time - 10 hours
Koh, Nishan, Kimia, and Zayn match up against the bullies in Warzone: Everywhere. A chorus of insults immediately crackle out of the TV speakers! ‘Well, look who it is!’ ‘Back for more pain, kiddies?’
Kimia: No, we’re not back for more pain, and we’re not kiddies!
Koh: Let me handle this, Kimia. So, which of you punks is ready to get humiliated first?
The bullies laugh. ‘Who’s this? Another noob who wants to get scraped?’
Koh: Yeah, keep on talking. Although you SHOULD be watching your back...
On screen, Koh’s character sneaks up behind one of the enemy team’s soldiers and takes him out! ‘What! I don’t believe this!’
Koh: Really? It’s plain to see on-screen. Or do you need your eyes checked? Because that would explain your aim!
‘I don’t... but that’s not... you must’ve cheated! What, you guys had to get some hacker to stand a chance?’
Koh: Aw, poor baby! Do you need a diaper change? Here, maybe this’ll make you feel better.
Koh’s character steals the enemy team’s flag and returns it to her team’s base! ‘NOO! What?! What?! Who let her through?!’
Kimia: Koh, that was amazing! You didn’t let their trash talking get to you at all!
Koh: Yeah. They’re just dumb kids, you know. They’re not worth listening to.
‘Hey! We’re not dumb kids! We’re Elite Swag Unlimited!’
Nishan: Yeah... that’s their clan name.
Koh: Elite Swag Unlimited? I rest my case. Try us again when you grow up. Peace.
Koh shuts off the voice chat as the results screen comes up.
Zayn: Whoa! I can’t believe you just said that to those guys!
Kimia: Or that you just muted them like that!
Koh: Honestly, that’s what you should’ve done in the first place. People like that aren’t worth listening to.
Kimia: I know, but still...
Koh: You just need practice. Next time you’re in some boring class or whatever, just kick back and tune everything out. I do it all the time.
Zayn: Zone out during class? No way!
Koh: Suit yourself. But we’re square, right?
Nishan: Definitely. Thanks for everything, Koh.
Koh: Don’t mention it. Now, if you don’t mind, I’ve got a newly repaired motorcycle to take for a text drive. Catch you guys later.
You and Koh walk back to the Rebel Hangout and find the garage door lowered.
Koh: Didn’t we leave this open?
Danny: Yeah, we did...
You and Koh lift the door up to find Autumn and some members of the art club all gathered around Koh’s bike, which is hidden under a sheet!
Koh: What’s going on here?
Requirements
Autumn, Nick, and Olivia proudly unveil Koh’s motorcycle!
Autumn: Danny mentioned that you wanted a new paint job for your bike. We figured you wouldn’t want anything TOO crazy, so we went with glossy black.
Danny: Whoa! It looks amazing!
Nick: What do you think?
Koh: Well... it DOES look amazing...
Olivia: So... why do you look so angry?
Koh: Because it’s different!
Nick: I mean, that’s kind of the point... whatever was left of the paint job got even more scratched up in the accident.
Koh: All right, that’s fair. But now I have to do something nice for you idiots!
Autumn: No, it’s totally fine! You don’t have to do anything!
Koh: So what do you guys want?
Nick: Uh, there’s not much we need... unless you happen to know where to get an old gas stove and a lot of copper wire...
Olivia: It’s for an art project we’re working on.
Koh: Of course it is. Come with me.
Time - 12 hours
Koh leads you, Autumn, Nick, and Olivia to a nearby junkyard filled with old scrap metal and broken down cars.
Nick: Whoa...
Olivia: This is amazing!
Koh: Welcome to paradise. Make yourselves at home.
As the artists disperse through the junkyard, Koh turns to Autumn.
Koh: So, how’d your little art club even hear that my bike was in the shop?
Autumn: Nishan made a post about it online after he helped fix your engine. He took a selfie by your bike, hashtag ‘teamwork’, hashtag ‘friendship.’ Maybe more of our classmates will help you out, Koh! Wouldn’t that be great?
Danny: Uh oh...
Koh: Wonderful.
Nick and Olivia run up to Koh, their arms laden with treasures from the junkyard!
Nick: This was such a great idea, Koh!
Olivia: Yeah, we found everything we needed and lots of other treasures!
Koh: So, I don’t owe you anything, right?
Nick: Not at all, but who cares about that? Check out this found art! It’s a family tree quilt that someone burnt a hole in the middle of!
Koh: Uh... that’s art?
Nick: Are you kidding? Whatever tragic story this quilt tells... it’s stronger than anything you’d find in a gallery!
Danny: Did you find anything cool, Olivia?
Olivia: Are vintage lunch boxes cool? Rhetorical question, of course they are.
Olivia shows you a rusted lunch box with flaking paint. You can just make out a picture of retro superheroes in an action-packed tableau!
Olivia: I probably wouldn’t eat out of it, but it’d look good on a shelf, right?
Koh: Totally. I mean, I usually just come here to break stuff, and I probably burned that quilt to be honest, but it’s whatever [this part is missing]
Autumn: All right, Koh, I think you’ve done enough to pay us back, especially since it wasn’t really necessary...
Koh: Cool. I don’t need debts hanging over my head. Let’s get back to the Rebel Hangout before anyone else decides my bike needs a makeover...
Requirements
You and Koh walk back to the Rebel Hangout to find a huge crowd gathered around Koh’s motorcycle!
Koh: Are you people serious?! Does no one have anything better to do? What are you doing to my bike?
Kai: Koh, baby, don’t play me like that! You know I only want to help you out!
James: Yeah, you’re gonna love the mods we made to your ride.
Bob: Man, I’ve GOT to get me one of these.
Koh: Okay, let’s see what the damage is...
Time - 10 hours
James, Kai, and Bob proudly unveil the modifications they’ve made to Koh’s bike!
James: Okay, check it, Koh. UNDERGLOW. Yeah, you heard me. UNDERGLOW. Like the light-cycles in Tron!
James flicks a switch, and a crimson glow lights up the asphalt under Koh’s motorcycle!
Koh: Whoa!
Next, Kai turns on the radio on Koh’s bike, and booming speakers cleverly hidden in the body of the bike project a pulse-pounding beat!
Kai: Yeah! Turn up! What do you think, Koh?
Koh: I mean, obviously it sounds amazing...
Bob: That’s not all, though! I gave your bike a while new attitude to go with the changes James and Kai made!
Bob gestures to the front and back of the motorcycle chassis, where rows of spikes protrude like thorns on a rose!
Bob: Pretty sick, right?
Koh: Yeah, yeah, it’s really...
Danny: Is everything okay, Koh? You know you don’t have to pay everyone back or worry about owing them, right?
James: Yeah, I totally just did this because I was bored! No need to get me back for it!
Kai: Same. Just promise me you’ll play only the sickest beats, and we’re even.
Bob: I honestly just had a lot of leftover spikes lying around. It’s no big deal.
Koh: It’s great... it’s just that... it’s different.
Danny: What do you mean?
Koh: Look, it’s really cool. This is all stuff I’ve always wanted to add... ...but never felt like I could. It’s my grandma’s bike.
Danny: No, it’s not, Koh. It’s yours. That’s why she gave it to you.
Koh: You know what, Danny... maybe you’re right. After all, real rebels do what they want, don’t they? A rebel makes her own mark.
Danny: Is there anything else you’ve always wanted to change?
Koh: Actually, yeah...
After a while, Koh steps back from the bike, her hands stained with oil and grease.
Koh: There. I’ve adjusted the seat, so I should be able to reach the handlebars easier.
Koh climbs onto the bike and revs the engine.
Danny: So? How does it feel?
Koh: It feels like it fits. Well, I gotta get home.
Danny: Are you worried about what your grandma will think about the bike?
Koh: Nah. Like you said, Danny, she gave it to me. It’s mine. Catch you tomorrow.
Requirements
The next day, you meet up with your friends after class again.
Payton: Did you guys notice anything different today?
Julian: No, Nishan made sure to remind the teacher to give us homework today. Thanks a lot, buddy.
Nishan: I know you’re being sarcastic, but you SHOULD be thanking me for making sure you get a good education!
Payton: That’s not what I was referring to...
Danny: Were you trying to point out that Koh was on time today?
Payton: That’s it! One hundred points to Danny!
Koh: Very funny, Payton.
Danny: By the way, Koh... how’d things go with your grandma?
Koh: It’s a long story. I’ll tell you on the way to Geography class.
Time - 8 hours
You and Koh walk together to your Geography classroom.
Danny: So... how’d it go?
Koh: Better than I expected. A lot better. Grandma said that the most important thing about the motorcycle wasn’t how it looked, but the memories she made with it. And she was happy to see me striking out on my own and putting my own stamp on it.
Danny: That’s great!
Koh: Yeah. Plus, she showed me this picture of her and her friend going for a ride back in the day...
Koh shows you a black and white photo of two smiling girls, one driving the motorcycle and one sitting in a sidecar.
Danny: Aww, that’s adorable!
Koh: Don’t push it, Danny. Motorcycles aren’t adorable. Anyway, this photo gave me a good idea of how to repay you for all your help yesterday...
Danny: Oh, no, it’s totally--
Koh: Yeah, yeah, it’s not necessary. Maybe I just want to do something for my friend, you know? Just meet me at the Rebel Hangout later.
Later on, you show up at the Rebel Hangout to find Nishan and the nerds working on the motorcycle under Koh’s direction.
Nishan: All right, Koh, I think we’re good to go!
Koh: Great. Thanks for your help, Nishan. Ready, Danny?
Koh pats the seat of the newly attached sidecar! You climb in unsteadily and strap on a helmet.
Danny: I can do this. I can do this!
Koh: Not sure you have a choice. Let’s ride!
Koh opens the throttle, and you race out of the Rebel Hangout’s garage and into the setting sun! Koh turns and shouts at you over the roar of the engine, the wind whipping her hair!
Koh: Hey, Danny. How’re you doing down there?
Danny: This is awesome! I can’t believe you do this every day!
Koh: Yeah, it’s pretty sweet. Don’t get used to this, by the way. I’m still a lone wolf at heart!
Danny: Oh, I know. But it’s fun to run with a pack every now and then!
Koh: No arguments there!
- Danny

- A Gamer (James)
- A DJ (Kai)
- A Punk Rocker (Bob)
- Danny
- Koh
